How to become a licensed producer
First off, this process takes time (estimated 3-4 weeks) and costs some money (estimated $200-$300+) but selling just a few policies can more than make up for the costs of obtaining your license.
To join EIA as a personal lines producer (auto, home, condo, and other personal lines sales), you only need the Personal Lines license. Some states will have just "Personal Lines" as the option, other states will add the words "Producer", "Agent", "Broker", or a combination of those words to "Personal Lines" such as "Personal Lines Broker-Agent".
The Property and Casualty Producer/Agent/Broker license is also accepted to join EIA, but the extra ability to sell commercial insurance won't be used in the partnership with EIA at this time.
An Adjuster License will not meet the requirements to partner with EIA.
You can use a few different sources to gain knowledge on the internet for the licensing process. We are providing 1 option below.
You can go to http://www.adbanker.com/staterequirements and select the state you are a resident of to see the process for becoming a licensed insurance producer for that state.
Please read the disclaimer at the bottom of http://www.adbanker.com/staterequirements as the process could change. Licensees are ultimately responsible for ensuring that they are in compliance with the requirements set forth by their state licensing entity.
Tips – we can’t speak for the test from each state, but for some states the questions for state specific knowledge on the Personal Lines exam is on topics that are for state specific commercial P&C and not just the Personal Lines state specific items.
